I live with bipolar disorder and I’m a Mental Health Advocate for Mental Health Humor Cartoons. Thank you for sharing about green tea and how it may help with the symptoms of mild forms depression. My understanding is that we are drinking the amino acid L-Theanine in green tea for the reduction in depression (Current Medicinal Chemistry 2015 AND Psych Central). If I read the research right, the therapeutic threshold somewhere after drink a minimum of 4 cups (32 oz.) of green tea. Do you think four cups or more of green tea is a lot of tea?

What really caught my attention was something I would love to learn more about when you wrote about green tea “helps in reducing the side effects of the medication.” If you could email me more about this or post more… I would love to share it.

      Dear Chato,
As per my experience 4 cups of green tea is fairly good. But in case you are preparing tea using pure leaves (as I do, instead of tea bags) 2 cups are good, because of its purity.
Being on heavy medication myself, I know it does helps in subsiding the side effects.
One may not be able to see results in 1-2 days but regular intake of green tea shows visible differences.

The antioxidants in green tea also give it antiaging properties. It’s a great way to stay hydrated, especially in Winter, when it’s more comforting to have a hot drink than just water. I love green tea. Thank you for sharing the connection between green tea and mental health.

I love green tea. I’ve read that the water shouldn’t be boiling when making green tea, because it will ruin all the good stuff in it. I also like to mix my teas, having a green tea with some mint or chamomile tea.
