If you like to travel, but don’t necessarily have extra money to defray costs, you may be interested in identifying ways in which you can make money while traveling. There are some different, some might say “offbeat,” ways in which you can make money while traveling. These are just some ideas to get your brain working on coming up with ways to make some cash while traveling.
Travel Photographs
Businesses, organizations, and others are always on the lookout for refreshing images. You may be able to cash in on this reality while traveling. You can take travel snapshots and market them through sites that sell online images. Every time someone makes a purchase of one of your images, you obtain a royalty payment.
You might also be able to reach out to specific businesses or organizations and make arrangements to sell photos you take while traveling to them. This requires planning ahead. However, you may be able to find a few enterprises that re interested in your pitch.
Fiverr.com
Fiverr.com may be a solid vehicle for you to use if you want to make money (need to make money) while on the road. The essence of Fiverr.com is that you will do a specific type of task for a relatively small amount of money. For example, you’ll write a short piece of content for $5. (You end up getting $4, Fiverr.com taking $1.)
You actually can charge more, depending on the task that you are willing to undertake through the website. The beauty of Fiverr is that you can provide services that you can undertake from anywhere.
Take Tourists Sightseeing
If you will be staying in a particular area for a more extended period of time, and get to know the area, you can provide sightseeing services. For example, if you will be spending a more extended period of time in a non-English speaking locale that attracts many English speaking visitors, you can provide sightseeing assistance to them.
The reality is that tourists may actually be more comfortable with a fellow national. You speak the language. You’ve taken the time to learn about the locale and you present it to travelers that may have a greater appreciation for your perspective.
Answer Text Messages
Log into a website called ChaCha and respond to text messages. You won’t make a ton of money fast responding to texts. However, if you have a lazy afternoon, you can make a little extra money by taking this route.
Through ChaCha, people submit questions via text. Questions can be about nearly anything. Some are lighthearted, others more serious.
Review Music, Movies, or Television
You may have thought about blogging as a means of making money. You may be able to make some money doing so. You do need to keep in mind that the vast majority of bloggers never make much money.
You may heighten the prospects of making money through the blogging process if you focus on something more specific and practical. For example, you may be able to make some money while traveling if you review music or movies.
Television may also be an avenue for you as well. In this regard, you might want to focus on a niche within the television industry — like the upcoming Netflix season.
Part-Time Work
Although this isn’t an offbeat suggestion in and of itself, taking a part time job when you reach your destination locale is not something most travelers too. With that said, taking a part-time job in your destination locale while traveling can prove to be a reliable way to make money.
You will need to plan on being in a particular location for at least a reasonable amount of time. In other words, you can’t get a part-time job for a matter of days. That usually is not a viable plan of action.
As an aside, if you do take a part time job when you reach a particular locale as you travel, you will have a real opportunity to gut to know the community from the perspective of locals. Odds are you will make friends with your co-workers who will open up interesting doors for you while you are in the area.
In many ways, finding ways in which you can make money while traveling are restricted only by your own creativity and resourcefulness. You will also want to do plenty of due diligence and advance planning in order to put yourself in the best position to find unique and yet reasonably reliable ways to make money while traveling.
