2023 is just around the corner and what better way to kick off the new year than by doing some DIY? The new year is a time for reflection and making changes, which makes it the perfect time of the year to make changes to your home, setting you up with a fresh new style for a fresh new year.
To kick off 2023, we’ve put together three relatively simple, yet incredibly impactful DIY projects you can get on with in the new year.
Give Windows A New Look With Made To Measure Blinds
A quick and easy project to warm up your DIY skills at the start of 2023 would be to install some new made to measure blinds to give your windows a fresh new look and change the vibe of your home. This is the perfect DIY task to start with, as quite a lot of the work involved in installing blinds is simple and easy.
First, you’ll have to measure your windows to know what size blinds you need – to measure for blinds just measure your window’s recess from side to side and top to bottom. Once you have your measurements, you’ll need to find a supplier and choose some blinds to order – perhaps some double roller blinds from DotcomBlinds? Once you have your blinds, just follow the retailer’s instructions and you’ll have your new blinds up in a jiffy!
Repaint Kitchen Cabinets To Create A Fresh New Look
Here’s another simple DIY project to kick off the year with, giving your kitchen cabinets a new look. The cost of kitchen remodelling or even buying new kitchen cabinets is extortionate these days, but if you want to give your cabinets a new look, you can upgrade the existing cabinets you have to give them an entirely new look which will be just as impactful as replacing them entirely.
You’ll want to start off by taking the cabinet doors off of your kitchen cabinets, then removing any knobs or handles before gently sanding off the top layer of paint or varnish from them. Once you’ve sanded your cabinet doors, you can repaint or revarnish them in any colour you desire to create a new look. Then you can complete the upgrade by swapping the cabinet handles or knobs out for new ones, before putting the doors back on the cabinets and voila, you’ve created a new look for your kitchen.
Use Wallpaper To Create An Eye Catching Feature Wall
This next task is a tad more tricky than the first two, but will still create a stunning look nonetheless. If you have a room that feels a tad lifeless, you can give it a new lease of life by using wallpaper to create an eye-catching feature wallthat will energise the space and introduce new colours and patterns.
The first step for this project is to measure the size of your soon-to-be feature wall and buy some funky wallpaper that fits your style and some wallpaper adhesive from your local hardware store. Once you have your wallpaper, gently sand down the walls and apply your adhesive, when the adhesive is applied you should then carefully apply the wallpaper to the walls. This task requires a steady hand and a lot of tact, but the end result will be more than worth the time needed to wallpaper your feature wall.
