However, one of the techniques couldn’t reach the masses as much as it deserved due to its simplicity of exercises. Yogic Suksma Vyayama, designed by Acharya Dheerendra Brahmachariji is a series of 48 exercises that are gentle, yet powerful.

Most of the Yoga classes start with a prayer or OM recital, alternatively known as chanting of OM sound. This article is dedicated to the power of prayer or Prarthana. Prarthana is the first exercise of Yogic Suksma Vyayama.

Stand tall, erect, feet together, eyes closed. Now fold your hands, with thumbs on throat cavity & forearms pressing the chest.

Focus your mind on Supreme Being, seeking their blessings for a healthy practice. As you attain this mental state, release the pressure of thumbs & forearms. However, if you are unable to focus, keep the pressure on till you feel reaching there.

As per the Yogic tradition, this exercise, by its effect on the Manovaha nerve, helps to sublimate the sexual instinct and to increase the powers of concentration.
